Everyday Is a Holiday With You

ImageWell, if you’re Canadian you’re probably still in recovery from an awesome 146 Birthday Party for our ol’ friend Canada. If you’re down south in the United States of America, you’re probably gearing up for the Fouth of July. And if you’re somewhere else in the world, maybe you’re counting down the days to your next long weekend.

No matter who you are and where you’re at on this planet, you probably don’t hear too often, “HURRAY! IT’S WEDNESDAY!” If anything you might hear the common adage, “It’s hump day!” That’s another way of saying  – we’ve served 1/2 our time and we’ve got only another half to go before our 2 days of respite before we return!

No matter if you’re a student in school or a monday – friday worker like me or even if you pull some crazy overnight shifts, there’s something to be said for having a job. Here are a couple reasons why I love to wake up each morning… even if I feel groggy or have not had my full 8 hours of sleep, there’s just something to be said about having a purpose – and here it is!

I wake up every morning and I thank God for giving me a job and surrounding me with people who I am pleased to work with. I thank Him for having my back when I get that early-morning-woke-up-on-the-wrong-side-of-the-bed kind of feeling. I take a deep breath in and a deep breath out and I just become confident that I have control over which direction my day can go so long as I have the right outlook and I’m willing to give 100% of myself to my purpose that day.

Now, there’s always going to be someone who wants to get you down. Maybe you have a co-worker who loves to watch you fail. Or a teacher who never gives you the grade you think you deserve. Maybe you have a performance evaluation coming up and you don’t know if you’re going to pass. All you can be certain of is whether or not you did your best. Who cares if you fail a test? There will be 1000000 more tests to comes. Who cares if someone calls you a name? It isn’t who you are unless you accept it – truly, it only points out their insecurities. Who cares if you don’t get all your work done and it builds up a little? There’s always tomorrow. You can’t possibly commit to more than what the time in the day allows.

But here’s something else. Something that always reassures me so long as I take the time to meditate on it. I’m never alone. There’s always help. There’s always support. I’m blessed to have a staff at work who truly care about me and who would help me get my workload done if I was ever far behind. I have a staff who play pranks on me to pass time at work. I have a staff who smile a great big smile when I walk in the door. It feels great to be cared about. And if you don’t believe you have that staff.. maybe you have an awesome family like I have. Who would give their lives to make mine better. They would pick me up when I would be down. They would humble me if I got too pompous. Or maybe you have friends who planted a permasmile on your face. Who take you out to celebrate everything about you – they might as well be family. Maybe you’ve got a goldfish who would actually die without you.

But if you haven’t got any of the above. There’s something you do have. You have God. A power so mighty he can literally make any situation change in less than a second. A God who loves us all so deeply. He grieves when we don’t accept his glory in our lives. This is a God who loves us more than we could ever love ourselves. Truly, everyday is a holiday with him. Who needs the fourth of july or canada day. Who needs ribfest and westfest and the tulip fest or comic con and summer vacation? Who needs weekends or days off when EVERYDAY IS A HOLIDAY?! Every day is a holy day. He has blessed each of us with a purpose.

Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that something that makes you want to wake up tomorrow and thank God for what He is about to do? He loves us all so deeply. He loves to dance with us and sing with us. Moreover, he loves to work with us. He’s the one rooting for your soccer team. He is the one making you fall in love with the girl next door. He is the one who gets you that promotion. He is the one who finds you a dream home. He is the one who believes in you when noone else will. He is the One! You’re never alone. Never ever!

So when your Wednesday is not going quite as planned, take a deep breath in and a deep breath out and remember youre on holydays! Remember that God will never give you more than you can handle. He is building you and strengthening you. He is holding your hand and if you need help, just ask. He can see you doing 100% and HE is so proud of you.

You’re all so beautiful. You’re all so loved! No matter where you are tomorrow morning when you wake up – take a deep breath in and a deep breath out and just remember you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

Much love to you all. Thank’s for poppin’ by!

xoxo
