What I’ve Learned
I have taken the last 1.5 years to be me. I put my foot down and I said, “no one can stop me!”
I stopped caring what other people thought of who I was. I did what felt right.
I made mistakes. I made bad decisions.
Through it all, I can say that no one was influencing me to be anything other than who I was meant to be.
I have no regrets.
I lost friends. I made new ones. I broke some rules. I got closer to God. I had fun. I cried.
Here is what I’ve learned:
#1. I still need to get better at saying no.
#2. Honesty feels good after the initial stings.
#3. It’s ok to love and not to love.
#4. Everyone needs help and it’s ok to ask for it.
#5. Nothing will ever replace the voids left in my heart by the people I love who have passed on. It doesn’t get easier.
#6. Mental illness is a scientific illness and there’s a lot of people in the world who think otherwise.
#7. There are many people who will never know just how severe chronic illnesses can be.
#8. Money matters.. Even a little bit.
#9. I can’t possibly control everything that happens in my life.
#10. I need to love who I am.
These 10 lessons are lessons I will continue to learn. I will evolve. My opinions may change.
I love deeply. I work hard. I make sacrifices. I give with all that I am. I am the best possible me that I can be and that has set me free.
To hell with the no-sayers. To hell with the world that puts me down.
I am proud of where I’ve come from and how much I have grown. I’m thankful for my blessings and I want so much more out of life.
I’m a fighter. I’m a sister and a daughter. I’m a friend (one of the best ones you will ever have), I’m an amazing lover. I’m a niece and a cousin. I’m an actor. I’m an activist. I’m a writer. I’m a free thinker. I’m a photographer. I’m a music junkie. I’m an artist! I’m a muse! I’m a world traveller! I’m a creator! I’m a decorator! I’m a foodie and a pet lover! I’m an 80s chick! I’m sassy! I’m strong! I’m independent!
What I have learned is that there is no one who can replace me. I am needed. I am wanted! I am loved!
Every one of us is important! We deserve to put ourselves first! No matter what we do or where we came from or what past we have hiding behind us.. We have the right to live free to be who we are!
What have you learned that helped you be the best you that you could ever possibly be?
